This what I’m talking about. This is Luxe. Adults having a good time. The evening is so much more enjoyable when everyone in the room can pull their own weight. Enjoy 2012 people & your Ciroc.
Yeah I saw Transformers 3 and Captain Americawas great. I flock to a blockbuster movie as much as anyone else. What I really love is a good low budget independent film festival cinema. Especially a foreign gangster flick.
“The Devils Double”, now playing in selected theaters, takes place in Baghdad in 1987. This is based on the true story of Latif Yahia who is chosen(forced) to be the body double for Uday Hussein the son of Saddam Hussein. Both Latif & Uday are played by actor Dominic Cooper, who also stars in Captain America as Howard Stark. Father of Tony Stark. Father like son.
Of course Uday lives a wild crazy life of parties, cigars, gold guns, sex, violence, drugs, murder, cars & palaces. Uday earned the nickname “Black Prince” and people also want to kill him. The Devils Double is directed by Lee Tamahori who also directed ,”Die Another Day” and “XXX:State of the Union”…XXX was terrible.
I have not sen this film yet just released yesterday, but will be seeing this in theaters. Check the preview…
This Memorial Day weekend I made sure I got to see the sequel to the cult favorite,”The Hangover 2.” This time the fellas visit Thailand & Bangkok. As I sat in the theater with my giant over priced Coke Icee I realized it happened again. I’m not talking about the crazy drunken madness that we expect the Wolf pack to get into. I’m talking about product placement.
Just like in Iron Man part 2 I saw these Initium sunglasses I had to have. Never got them, but congratulations to those who saw them on Broad and Luxe and bought them. Serious Bok says you’re welcome! This time Mosley Tribe has gained my attention. I am really into my shades & already own Mosley Tribes so I know they are quality. The International Gangster Chow wears the Mosley Tribe Bromley in burgundy in the film.
Mosley Tribes Bromley $180
As for the movie Hangover 2 was good and entertaining. You kind of know what to expect, but that’s why I went to see it. I like the characters & I like the madness. I like how the story got all the original characters back together in a simple believable way. The product placement in the film wasn’t ridiculous like Iron Man. There was a cool car chase scene but that didn’t make me want a Toyota Corolla.
I say see the movie & have fun. If you have ever taken a trip with the fellas these films should bring back memories(unless your trips are boring and wack). Hopefully not to many memories like the Wolf Pack has though.
“If you want Chow’s sunglasses all you had to do was ask you don’t have to kill Chow!” ~Mr. Chow
Its looks like 3-D flicks are here to stay. At Least until we get tired of them…..again. We have come a long way since the paper 3-D glasses of the 80′s. Now we get Ray Ban like hard plastic re-usable glasses that they ask be returned after the movie to be recycled. Good idea plus I don’t need cheap 3-D glasses laying all over my home.
If you want to step it up and go to the movie B&L style check out these Gucci 3-D glasses. For the hardcore movie goer. Gucci promises a premium cinema experience. Yours for $225.
Mr. West premiered his short film today and here it is. Selita Ebanks is featured as his Phoenix and that she is. I think its Luxe. Have a cigars and pour something expensive & let me know what you think.
This weekend I had the chance to go see the sequel to Wall Street. In most of Michael Douglas’ movies he is Michael Douglas playing some great role, but in this film his character Gordon Gekko is all I saw for the entire 2 and a half hours. I shared the trailer for this film months ago with a brief description of the previous movie. I wont go all into that again but you will not be lost if you haven’t watched the original.
I was excited to see this movie because I like this kind of drama. The money, the greed, the hunger, the crime where guns and murders aren’t necessary. Gordon Gekko is a different class of criminal. Gordon returns home from prison and sets out to be a best selling author, but the (Wall)streets is all he knows. He wants to be in his daughters life and sit on the financial thrown again.
The name of the movie is Wall Street so expect a lot of trading floor financial board room talk. You will not get lost in it if your not into stocks and hedge funds. The director Oliver Stone who also directed,” Platoon” & “Natural Born Killers”, made sure everyone could relate to the movie. It was also about family, the recession, 9/11 and how these happenings effected our lives globally. And also how it would have affected us if things happened differently. For example if the U.S. did not bail out the banks.
Of course there was much Luxe to be seen in the movie. Cohiba and Davidoff cigars aplenty. One of our favorites Johnnie Walker Blue had 2 cameo appearances. Not to mention the cars and maybe a few stingray suits. This movie is Luxe go see it.
HBOs The Wire is my favorite drama series of all time. It is a classic in my opinion. Great stories, characters, actors, dialogue, classic quotes and scenes. This scene is one of my favorites. If you remember good if not that’s fine also.
Ok forget that this is D’ Angelo Barksdale and Donette. Forget what he does for a living because if he sat next to you in a restaurant you don’t know what he does and you don’t care. But still he feels uncomfortable and out of place. Here is a guy from the hood who can afford the finer things, but he is nervous about stepping out of his zone. Years from now this scene will be relevant.
I remember this feeling once when I went to dine at a very posh restaurant years ago. I grew tired of chicken shacks, low quality food and bad service. I grew accustomed quick. But many people still avoid a “classy” evening just to not feel uncomfortable. Its not always about the money and its not all about leaving you hood to feel good.
I see people all the time stop in front of the cigar lounges and stare. Their face says,”Wow they look like they are having a good time.” I mean older mature professionals who may want to enter but just don’t. No one wants to feel like D’Angelo. I love when people walk in and say,”I don’t know anything about cigars, but I want to be a part of this.”
This scene can be taken many ways and I’m sure there are different opinions of it. I say do what you enjoy and don’t be afraid to try new things because of what people might think. Someone told me that they can,”break bread with Obama or Omar.” I love that. That’s thebest of both worlds. Enjoy them both. Let me know what you think of the scene.
Shout out to the homie Surge Requena he is a gangsta & a gentleman and now movie star! (Follow him on twitter @SurgeRequena I heard he funny). Surge along with a nice star cast including @thereallumidee & @djcamilo will be in this film. Platinum Status the movie is a film made by DJ Locorious. This flick looks right up my alley. A lot of East Coast hustling going on. Check the preview and movie coming soon.
I love independent movies. There are a lot of classic movies out there that didn’t cost $10 mil to make. These films are someones vision, hard work, blood and guts. They’re not advertised all over television. You have to keep your ear to the street. Independent film is like underground hip hop to Hollywood. Make sure to check Platinum Status.
Here are two movies, films, flicks, theatrical releases or whatever you choose to call them on my must see list for 2010. First is a Film Festival hit, “Gangster Paradise:Jerusalema“. This South African gangster movie might be good enough to sit next to my City of God, Slumdog Millionaire & Gangster #1 DVDs. I like foreign gangster cinema. Enjoy the preview: Coming soon to select theaters…
“Wall Street 2:Money Never Sleeps” looks like a very Luxe gangster movie. Yes in my opinion this is categorized as gangsta. This sequel to the 1987 ”Wall Street” directed by Oliver Stone is again directed by Oliver Stone. Michael Douglas also returns as Gordon Gekko. Fresh out of prison trying to fit back into society. Sound familiar? Sorry Charlie Sheen fans you will have to settle for Shia LaBeouf (Transformers). Yeah so anyway enjoy the preview: In theaters Sept. 24, 2010
