Mayweather vs. Ortiz x Knockout!

Last night Saturday September 17th 2011 Floyd “Money” Mayweather faced off against “Vicious” Victor Ortiz in a Welterweight Championship match. The fight ended with some controversy as Mayweather knocked out his 10 years younger champion opponent in the 4th round. My opinion is that Mayweather did nothing wrong. He did what he did out of anger, but it was legal. The ref split the two fighters then motioned with his hands to box. The ref said ,box, not hug it out.

Ortiz had already been warned to watch his head earlier in the fight. In the fourth round Ortiz lost a point for an intentional headbutt. Ortiz became frustrated and lost his cool. He showed us he was younger & less experienced after all. After that intentional foul Ortiz set the tone for the rest of the fight.

Mayweather has fun doing his job. I believe he truly enjoys this sport of pugilism with 100% of his heart. You can see in Floyd’s eyes after the butt he felt disrespected. His eyes said,”ok ok that’s how you want to do it…lets go.” That headbutt was meant to finish Mayweather. That wasn’t a defensive get off me tactic it was an attack. There is no hugging when the ref says, fight. Protect your self at all times.

Congratulations Mark Cuban 2011 NBA Champion/Owner

Congrats to Mark Cuban owner of the 2011 NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks! Yes I am congratulating an owner. He didn’t make one free throw, dunk or assist. But Mr. Cuban also did not sit up in some luxury suite and look down on the employees(players) and customers(fans) either.

Probably the most popular of all team owners with his role on HBO’s Entourage to the ABC hit show Shark Tank Mark Cuban is Broad and Luxe. Look at the pic above Mr. Cuban tweeted. Besides that trophy and private jet he’s one of us. He pulled that celebration cigar out of its plastic cover and threw it right on the seat just as we would in our cars. LOL!

Did he light that cigar on the jet? I would bet he did. When you own the plane you do what you want. Winning! Favorite 2011 Super Bowl XLV Commercial x Chrysler

We hope everyone enjoyed the Super Bowl. Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers for winning Super Bowl XLV! Black & Yellow played a great game as well.

As usual the very expensive commercials slots during the big game are like a show amongst themselves. My favorite commercial from last night was the Chrysler 200 ad. Not because Eminem was featured. Forget the fact that the 200 looks like a Sebring in a tuxedo. Nevermind if you are not from Detroit. Also at this point it doesn’t matter who owns the company.

The message in this ad applies to anyone from anywhere who has struggled, but wants better. ”What does a town that’s been to hell and back know about the finer things in life? More than most.”  True testament to Broad & Luxe.

I like the Chrysler 200 by the way. Working man deserves a car like that. I like the big grill. Why do you think Bentley and Rolls Royce have such large grills on thier automobiles? Its a personality thing. I would smoke a cigar in this car.LUXE

Luxe Events:Fight Night

We would like to thank everyone who came out to support and have a good time at the Friday Nights Fights & the ”R&R Margarita” after work gathering. More intimate like minded happenings to follow. Here are a few pics from the last Zab Judah fight at the Prudential Center for those who missed out:

Great seats 9 rows from the ring. Sorry no pics from margarita night you just had to be there. But the next Fight Night will be going down August 21, 2010 at the Prudential Center and Broad & Luxe will be in the building. Tomasz Adamek vs. Michael Grant. Remember Grant defeated Andrew Golota then lost his title shot to Lennox Lewis by a nasty uppercut. Get your tickets.

Brick City Boxing: Zab “Super” Judah

Friday July 16th, 2010 Championship Boxing is coming back to Prudential Center in Newark, NJ with Brooklyn’s Zab Judah as the main event! In my opinion Zab could still be one of the top contenders in his weight class with some ‘Super” focus. He’s older but remember this is the man who gave Floyd “Money” Mayweather his toughest fight to date.   The 32 year old Zab Judah(38-26-6) vs. a 3 years younger opponent Jose Armando Santa Cruz(28-17-4) should be an entertaining tune up fight.

On the undercard is a local favorite Newark’s own Alex “The Brick City Bullet” Perez(11-7-0) will defend his undefeated record vs. New York’s Vincent Arroyo(10-1-7). And a few more bouts as well.

Come out for a great night of boxing and fun. The Prudential Center is a great arena & addition to Newark. There are bars inside,restaurants, and a Jimenez Cigar booth. They also have cigars being hand rolled right there at the booth. I usually bring my own cigars. There is a second level outdoor smoking area over looking downtown, Mulberry St. and Brick City Bar & Grill. This will surely be a Broad & Luxe evening. Big Money Weekend

What a great weekend of Championship Boxing! Floyd Money Mayweather outclassed Shane Mosley 10 rounds to 2. Proving he has a strong chin and can stand toe to toe with anyone in his weight class. I enjoy Mayweather’s display of boxing science every fight.

You do not have to like the mans character but plenty of you show your respect and fear of him by not betting against him. And more people let their pride keep them from betting on him. Not me! Show me the money, Mayweather!  For this bout my cigar of  championship boxing was the Padron 40 year anniversary with Gentleman Jack Daniels.

Mostly anyone with some boxing knowledge and some guts won a few bucks this weekend. Some were scared while some bet $4 Million!!
